Microsoft rebrands 365 Roadmap to AI at Work
Microsoft has officially rebranded its ‘Microsoft 365 Roadmap’ to the ‘AI at Work Roadmap’. The company stated that this change better aligns with how customers work, as most businesses utilize a broad ecosystem of Microsoft products rather than a single application.
In addition to the name change, Microsoft is shifting away from scheduled ‘release waves’ in favor of providing continuous updates regarding new features. Starting in September, the roadmap will expand to include information for Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Dataverse. Users will also have the option to filter updates based on the specific products they use.
The rebranding has faced criticism for potentially causing confusion. Observers note that while the roadmap emphasizes AI, the standard Microsoft 365 subscription does not include AI capabilities, which require separate, paid licenses for tools like Copilot. This follows a history of rebranding efforts, such as the transition from Microsoft Office to Microsoft 365, which some users found difficult to navigate.
