Microsoft revamps Xbox PC app with console-like interface

Microsoft is developing a major overhaul of its Xbox PC application, codenamed Garrison, to improve performance and user experience. The new interface is designed to more closely resemble the Xbox Series X|S console UI, offering a cleaner look and streamlined navigation.

Key features of the update include enhanced adaptability for different input methods, such as mouse and keyboard or controllers. The app will also allow users to set it as a default home screen when launching Windows 11’s Game Mode. To reduce confusion, the new design will clearly distinguish between games available for local download and those accessible only via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Performance improvements aim to make navigating large libraries faster and more efficient. The update is expected to roll out to Xbox Insiders by the end of 2026, with a broader release to follow.
