Microsoft surveys Xbox users on Project Helix disc drive support

Microsoft is conducting surveys among high-level members of the Xbox Insider Program to gather feedback on the features of its next-generation hardware, currently known by the codename Project Helix.

A primary focus of the research is the future of physical media. The company is asking users to rate the importance of being able to install games from a disc, providing options such as “not necessary,” “nice to have,” or “mandatory.”

Other features under consideration include cloud streaming capabilities, support for keyboard and mouse peripherals, and access to video platforms like YouTube and TikTok. The survey also explores technical enhancements such as dynamic chassis lighting that reacts to gameplay and automated systems for capturing and saving game scenes.
