Overview

Simultaneously, Microsoft is conducting 25th-anniversary celebrations leading up to November 15, 2026. This includes a global FanFest tour, community-created digital assets, and a commemorative profile badge for users signing in through the end of the year. Anniversary initiatives also include the relaunch of the Xbox Gear online store and a partnership with McDonald’s in the UK and Ireland. As part of its broader commitment to game preservation, Microsoft has transitioned its “Disc-to-Digital” program, internally codenamed “Positron,” from an Insider testing phase to a full public rollout for all Xbox One and Xbox Series X users. This feature allows players to convert eligible physical discs into digital licenses tied to their Microsoft accounts, enabling gameplay without needing the disc inserted.
