Microsoft unveils Surface Laptop Ultra and RTX Spark Dev Box for AI computing
Microsoft announced two new Surface devices powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip. The Surface Laptop Ultra is a 15‑inch mini‑LED notebook with a 2,000‑nit HDR display, dual fans, up to 128 GB of unified memory and the ability to run local AI models. It targets high‑performance users and is slated for release later this year.
The company also introduced the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a compact mini‑PC aimed at software developers. It features an Nvidia Arm‑based RTX Spark processor with a 100‑W sustained thermal envelope, up to 128 GB of unified memory, and Windows 11 Pro pre‑installed. The Dev Box can run large language models of up to 120 billion parameters and will be sold exclusively through Microsoft.com in the United States later this year, with pricing expected to be premium.
