Microsoft updates roadmap communication and product releases

Microsoft has transitioned its Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Dataverse roadmap content to the ‘AI at Work Roadmap’, formerly known as the Microsoft 365 Roadmap. This change, effective September 2026, marks a shift from twice-yearly release waves toward continuous roadmap and change communications. While product release schedules, deployment processes, and documentation remain unchanged, the method of communication has been centralized to include Microsoft 365, Copilot, agents, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform in one location.

Users can access the roadmap via a web interface featuring keyword searches and CSV downloads, or through the Microsoft Release Communications (MRC) MCP Server, which allows AI assistants to query roadmap items using plain language.

Recent updates to the Microsoft 365 roadmap include 33 new additions. Notable upcoming features include the SharePoint app within Microsoft Teams, scheduled for November 2026, and PDF annotation capabilities for sensitivity-label protected files in OneDrive and SharePoint web viewers, expected in January 2027. Additionally, Copilot Search is being integrated into SharePoint and OneDrive to provide AI-powered, natural-language search functionality.
