Microsoft updates Windows with OneDrive opt-outs and Project Zenith

Microsoft is implementing changes to the Windows user experience, focusing on greater user control and specialized configurations.

Regarding cloud services, Microsoft is now allowing users to opt out of OneDrive backups during the initial setup of a new Windows computer. Previously, OneDrive was often enabled by default, automatically syncing documents, photos, and desktop files to the cloud. This change provides users with the ability to prevent automatic data uploads before they begin, addressing concerns regarding data usage limits and unwanted file synchronization.

Additionally, Microsoft has announced Project Zenith, a specialized Windows configuration designed for developers. Aiming for a ‘ready-to-code’ experience, Zenith seeks to eliminate the lengthy manual configuration process typically required by programmers. Unlike standard Windows editions, Project Zenith will have high hardware requirements, including a minimum of 64 GB of unified memory and 250 GB/s bandwidth, and is expected to debut on computers featuring AMD chipsets.
