Microsoft Xbox division to undergo major restructuring and test installment payment options

Microsoft is preparing a broad “reset” of its Xbox division after the close of its fiscal year on June 30. CEO Asha Sharma has been gathering internal feedback and plans to shift the business from the growth‑focused Game Pass era to a model centered on profitability, cost efficiency and tighter financial control. The reorganization will affect the entire Xbox organization, not only specific studios; developers such as Compulsion Games, Double Fine and Ninja Theory are reported to be under review, with possibilities ranging from closure to sale or independence.

A separate data leak from Xbox’s online store code suggests the company is exploring installment‑payment options for future purchases. The code references flexible financing through PayPal – four interest‑free bi‑weekly payments or up to 24‑month credit – and Klarna, which would split payments into three installments. The leak ties this potential feature to the rumored high‑priced Project Helix console, estimated at $999‑$1,500, though Microsoft has not confirmed any such program.
