Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service addresses climate resilience

Chief Fire Officer Craig Flannery represented the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) at the Wales Climate Change and Resilience Summit. The event, convened by the Welsh Government, focused on lessons learned from unprecedented wildfire activity across Wales during the summer.

Flannery emphasized that the impacts of climate change are currently affecting communities, the environment, and the demands placed on emergency services. He advocated for a ‘whole-system approach’ to building resilience, noting that no single organization can address these evolving risks alone. The summit aimed to strengthen collaboration and collective action among various organizations to prepare for future environmental challenges.
