Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service staff recognized for service and achievement

Joint Fire Control teams, which support both Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, managed a high volume of emergency calls during a summer of significant wildfire incidents. Between July 19 and September 1, the control room received 8,466 emergency calls, including a peak of 1,006 calls on August 13. The teams also mobilized 1,232 fire appliances and specialist resources during a period of sustained demand.

Separately, firefighter Chance Morgan of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service won gold in the Brown Belt Masters 2 Lightweight division at the All-Stars Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Wales competition in Cardiff. Morgan, a former soldier with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, uses his athletic platform to raise awareness for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) recovery.
