Middle East visitor spending projected to grow 57% by 2030

The ATM Travel Trends Report 2026, prepared by Tourism Economics in collaboration with the Arabian Travel Market, forecasts significant growth in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA) region. International visitor spending in the Middle East is projected to increase by 57%, reaching $116 billion by 2030.

While geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty caused disruptions in 2026, the report anticipates a strong recovery. International travel in the MENASA region is expected to grow by 17% in 2027, more than double the projected global growth rate of 8%. Long-distance markets are expected to drive this expansion, with long-haul travel from China to the Middle East estimated to rise by 160% by 2030.

Dave Goodger, Managing Director EMEA at Tourism Economics, noted that despite current uncertainties, consumers view travel as an essential need. He stated that the region is seeing travel expand on a structural basis rather than just a cyclical rebound, supported by positive demographics, rising prosperity, and continuous capacity investments.
