Middle Franconia extends fertilizer ban periods
Fertilizer ban periods in Middle Franconia, Germany, have been extended following a request from the Middle Franconian District Association of the Bavarian Farmers' Association (BBV). The extension applies to grassland and perennial forage crops.
In Altmühlfranken and the district of Roth, the ban period will now end on February 14, 2027. In the district of Ansbach, the period will end on February 28, 2027. The BBV stated that moderate rainfall following a period of drought has reactivated plant growth, making an additional fertilization window necessary for proper plant nutrition and soil protection.
The BBV noted that the vegetation period in many areas now extends until the end of November, allowing for longer nitrogen uptake. All other provisions of the fertilizer ordinance remain unchanged.
