Midwest Poultry egg recall linked to 98 salmonella cases in Texas and Louisiana

Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. issued a voluntary recall of more than 1.5 million dozen white shell and brown cage‑free eggs after the FDA linked them to a salmonella outbreak. The eggs were produced on Texas farms and sold through Kroger, Brookshire Grocery and affiliated stores in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Mississippi and other states. As of late July, 98 illnesses have been confirmed, including 73 in Texas and seven in Louisiana, with 26 people hospitalized overall. No deaths have been reported. The recalled cartons carry codes P‑1950 or 0840962 and sell‑by dates from July 20 to August 17, 2026. Health officials advise anyone with the eggs to discard them or return them for a refund and to clean any surfaces that may have contacted the product.
