Miguel Diego Sandoval pleads guilty to Lancaster quadruple murder and arson
Miguel Diego Sandoval, 21, has pleaded guilty to charges including murder, attempted murder, arson, animal cruelty, and destruction of evidence following a violent attack at a home in Lancaster. The incident, which prosecutors described as a calculated act of violence following the end of Sandoval's relationship with Dillon Maquindang, resulted in the deaths of four people and three dogs.
According to prosecutors, Sandoval entered the residence wearing a mask and targeted the relatives of his former partner. The victims were identified as Janvi Maquindang, 24, Christine Aca-ac, 29, Edwin Garcia, 24, and Matthew Montebello, 23. After the shootings, Sandoval set the house on fire, causing the deaths of three family dogs. Janvi Maquindang survived the initial attack but later died from his injuries.
L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman characterized the event as a revenge killing. Prosecutors have decided not to seek the death penalty, meaning Sandoval faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. Formal sentencing is scheduled for a later date.
