Lancaster quadruple murder guilty plea

Overview

Miguel Diego Sandoval, 21, has pleaded guilty to charges related to a November 2024 massacre at a residence in Lancaster, California. Prosecutors described the attack as a “calculated act of revenge” following the end of Sandoval’s relationship with Christine Aca-ac and the brother of Janvi Maquindang.

During the incident, Sandoval entered the home while occupants were asleep and opened fire, killing Janvi Maquindang, Christine Aca-ac, Edwin Garcia, and Matthew Montebello. Sandoval also set the residence on fire, which resulted in the deaths of three dogs. A 16-year-old victim survived by calling 911 from a locked bedroom and was later rescued by deputies.

Sandoval pleaded guilty to counts including murder, attempted murder, arson, animal cruelty, and destruction of evidence. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that prosecutors will not seek the death penalty, meaning Sandoval faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
