Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares confronted by citizen at Mexico City airport
Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, the former governor of Veracruz, was publicly confronted by a citizen at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM). The individual shouted accusations of betrayal and called the politician a 'traitor' and 'scoundrel' in a video that circulated on social media.
Yunes Linares approached the man to deny the allegations, stating, 'I did not betray anyone.' The verbal exchange remained non-physical before the politician continued toward his boarding area.
The confrontation stems from political decisions made by the Yunes family. In September 2024, Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez, a senator for the PAN, voted in favor of the constitutional reform to the Judiciary promoted by the federal government. This vote helped the initiative reach the required majority in the Senate. Following this decision, both Yunes Linares and Yunes Márquez were expelled from the PAN and subsequently joined the Morena party.
