BMW Motorrad confirms Miguel Oliveira extension, announces Petrucci departure

BMW Motorrad has announced a significant roster change for its WorldSBK team. Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team through 2027 and beyond. Despite a season impacted by shoulder injuries, Oliveira has secured four podiums since transitioning from MotoGP.

In contrast, Danilo Petrucci and BMW have mutually decided to end their partnership at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Petrucci, who joined the factory team after a successful stint with Barni Ducati, struggled to find consistent form on the BMW M 1000 RR and faced challenges following a highside crash at Most.

Sven Blusch, head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, expressed satisfaction with Oliveira’s rapid adaptation to the championship, noting his importance to the team both on and off the track.
