Miguel Oliveira's 2026 WorldSBK season: podiums, injury and future uncertainty

Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira joined the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team for the 2026 season. He claimed three podiums, including a memorable triple‑podium at his home round in Portimão, before a crash in the Hungary Superpole Race caused clavicle and scapula fractures, forcing him to miss the remainder of the Hungarian weekend and the following rounds in Czechia and Aragon.

Oliveira returned at Misano but was forced to retire mid‑race, and only completed a full weekend at Donington, where he struggled to finish in the top ten. Reports suggest he may re‑sign with BMW through 2028 and is linked with a possible factory Ducati seat. Speculation also links former KTM rider Brad Binder, who is expected to leave KTM, with a move to BMW for the 2027 WorldSBK grid alongside Oliveira.
