Mike Tomlin reveals Minecraft city built over 12 years
Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has revealed a massive virtual city he has been building in Minecraft for approximately 12 years. Tomlin, who led the NFL franchise for 19 seasons, shared a 19-minute tour of the project on his new YouTube channel, where the video quickly garnered hundreds of thousands of views.
Tomlin explained that he initially became interested in the game to connect with his children while they were in middle school. While he noted he lacks the dexterity for Survival mode, he found success in Creative Mode, which allowed him to pursue his interest in architecture. The digital metropolis features detailed residential complexes, commercial zones including a replica of a CVS, and structures inspired by local geography.
While some former players and analysts have criticized the hobby as a distraction from professional football duties, Tomlin described the process as therapeutic, stating it allowed him to “detach from the pressures and the reality of life.”
