Mikel Gurrea’s ‘Sants’ competes at San Sebastián Film Festival

Mikel Gurrea’s film ‘Sants’ has entered the official selection for the 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival, competing for the Golden Shell. The film follows Lali, a young woman struggling with her mother’s terminal illness, who becomes involved with a group of thieves specializing in the theft of sacred religious art.

The group operates with a communal purpose, functioning much like a modern-day Robin Hood organization by using a portion of their stolen proceeds to support vulnerable members of their community who have been neglected by society and the state. The narrative features performances by Victoria Luengo as Lali and Eulàlia Ramon as the charismatic gang leader, Rosario.
