Mikis Theodorakis Festival 2026 announced for Chania

The 12th Mikis Theodorakis Festival is scheduled to take place in Chania, Crete, from August 31 to September 3, 2026. Organized by the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Chania, and the Pancretic Association of Friends of Mikis Theodorakis, the event commemorates the life and work of the renowned composer.

The festival program includes concerts, theatrical performances, and memorial events. A key highlight is the Day of Remembrance on September 2, marking the anniversary of his passing. Musical performances will feature artists such as pianist Tatiana Papageorgiou, singer Kostas Triantafyllidis, and violinist Giorgos Panagiotopoulos.

Additionally, a photography exhibition will be hosted at the Megalo Arsenali until September 15. The festivities aim to highlight the composer's classical and folk works while supporting the development of the Mikis Theodorakis Museum in Galata, Chania, as an international center for research and culture.
