Milan commemorates 33rd anniversary of Via Palestro massacre

On 27 July 2024 Milan held a ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the Via Palestro bombing carried out by Cosa Nostra on the night of 27‑28 July 1993. The attack killed five people: fireman Carlo La Catena, local police officers Alessandro Ferrari, Pierluigi Romiti and Pasquale Vivona, and Moroccan citizen Driss Moussafir.

Regional deputy president Ruggero Invernizzi attended on behalf of Lombardy President Attilio Fontana, and Mayor Beppe Sala also took part. Both officials stressed that the memory of the victims must sustain a renewed commitment to legality, justice and the fight against organised crime, describing the bombing as an attempt to intimidate the State and democratic institutions.
