Milan fire brigade rescues woman who drowned in Parco delle Cave lake

On the afternoon of 15 July, a woman in her late 40s jumped into the artificial Cava Cabassi lake in Milan’s Parco delle Cave and did not surface. Fire brigade units and the river rescue team arrived at the scene around 16:20, located her a few metres from the shore and began resuscitation efforts. She was then taken by ambulance to Humanitas Hospital in Rozzano in serious condition. Local police are investigating the incident. Swimming in the park’s lakes is prohibited because of low water temperature and high density, and previous drownings have been recorded.

The rescue operation involved a team from the Milan fire command, a river rescue squad, and an autopump unit from the Sardinia detachment. The victim’s condition remains critical as medical staff continue treatment.
