Milan Krajča visits Cuba to commemorate Fidel Castro

Milan Krajča, Vice-Chairman of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia, has traveled to Havana to participate in commemorations marking the centennial of Fidel Castro’s birth. During his visit, Krajča attended a ceremony at the Havana Convention Palace alongside Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Krajča is also participating in an international meeting of communist and workers' parties. As part of the delegation, he is delivering a collection of solar panels, chargers, and power banks from Czech communists intended to assist Cuban households facing electricity shortages. Supporters of the mission, such as Petra Prokšanová, attribute Cuba’s energy and healthcare struggles to the long-standing United States embargo rather than socialist policies.

The visit coincides with historical reflections on Fidel Castro’s legacy. Following the 1959 revolution that ousted Fulgencio Batista, Castro transitioned from a leader who initially distanced himself from communism during a visit to the United States to the absolute ruler of Cuba, shaping the nation's geopolitical stance for decades.
