Milan Metro Line M2 Closed for Weekend Service on Aug 8‑9
The green Line M2 of Milan’s metro will be suspended on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August between Centrale FS and Cadorna FN. The closure enables load‑testing works on the new piazzale at Milano Porta Garibaldi, part of the final phase of the station’s redevelopment carried out by RFI in agreement with the Comune di Milano.
The affected stations are Centrale FS, Gioia, Garibaldi FS, Moscova, Lanza and Cadorna FN. Trains arriving from Gessate and Cascina Gobbia will terminate at Centrale FS, while those from Abbiategrasso and Assago will end at Cadorna FN. Passengers are advised to use alternative surface transport – buses, trams and bike‑sharing – or to transfer to other metro lines: M1 at Cadorna, M3 at Centrale and the M5 line at Garibaldi FS, which will run with increased frequency.
The night service NM2 will continue to operate unchanged. The weekend follows a separate incident on 7 August when an electrical fault at Milano Centrale caused delays of up to 90 minutes and temporary cancellations, prompting RFI staff to provide water bottles and assistance to stranded passengers.
