Milan railway services face major disruptions due to maintenance

Major railway infrastructure works and technical faults are causing significant disruptions to commuter rail services in the Milan metropolitan area and surrounding regions.

On the Milano-Mortara line, technical faults between Abbiategrasso and Vigevano resulted in delays of nearly two hours for travelers. This occurs alongside ongoing maintenance on the Albairate-Abbiategrasso section, where Rete Ferroviaria Italiana has implemented a 40-day track closure to facilitate extraordinary maintenance and a planned railway doubling project.

Additionally, the Milan Passante remains closed between Rogoredo and Villapizzone/Bovisa until August 30 due to infrastructure works. This closure has forced several suburban lines to alter their routes or suspend services. Specifically, lines S1 and S5 are being diverted, while S2 and S12 are suspended. Other lines, including S6 and S13, are operating with limited service or via replacement bus connections.
