Italy schools reopen with new facilities and community initiatives
The 2026-2027 school year has commenced across various Italian regions, marked by diverse local initiatives, infrastructure updates, and community programs.
In Riccione, the inauguration of the new Panoramica primary school features an eco-sustainable wooden building designed for high seismic resistance. Meanwhile, the San Carlo Acutis school has transitioned to new management with renovated facilities including a multi-purpose hall and a new canteen.
Educational welfare and safety are central themes. In Milan, the Ilaria Alpi Institute is implementing a model promoted by SOS Villaggi dei Bambini focused on restorative justice and student well-being to combat bullying. In the Irpinia region, the Carabinieri have increased patrols near schools to ensure student safety and provide legality education.
Corporate and community support is also evident. Despar has launched its Scuolafacendo project in several regions, including Piedmont, Liguria, Valle d’Aosta, and Sicily, allowing customers to donate school vouchers to local institutions. In Castiglion Fiorentino, local traditions were celebrated with drum performances to welcome students, while in Benevento, the Giovanni Pascoli Institute emphasized the integration of sports and music into its curriculum.
