Milan transport facing disruptions from strikes and rail maintenance

Commuters in Milan face significant transportation disruptions due to a combination of industrial action and scheduled infrastructure maintenance.

A strike affecting local transit services will impact ATM operations. Travelers are advised to utilize guaranteed service windows, check the ATM Milano app for real-time updates, and consider alternative mobility options such as bike sharing, carpooling, or regional rail connections to mitigate delays.

Simultaneously, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) has scheduled extraordinary maintenance work in the Milan rail hub on September 12 and 13. This work will cause changes to routes, schedules, and arrival/departure stations for several high-speed and regional services, including Frecciarossa, Italo, and EuroCity. Due to the maintenance, Milano Centrale will be partially bypassed, with some services redirected to Milano Porta Garibaldi and Milano Rogoredo. Affected lines include routes connecting Milan to Venice, Basel, Geneva, Salerno, Rome, Naples, and Turin, among others.
