Milazzo pool suction accident: teen rescued after hair caught

A teenage girl was trapped in the suction and recirculation system of a small pool at a beach resort in Milazzo, Italy, after her hair became entangled. A man dove in and, after several minutes, managed to free her. The girl lost consciousness from prolonged apnea but was revived on‑site by two doctors who happened to be present, then taken by ambulance to the hospital for checks. Her grandfather, who witnessed the incident, suffered a shock‑induced illness and was also taken for medical evaluation.

Police from the Milazzo Commissariate arrived, interviewed witnesses and began an investigation to reconstruct the incident and assess any liability. The affected pool area has been placed under judicial seizure pending further inquiry.
