Miles Davis and John Coltrane catalogs receive major vinyl reissues

To mark the centennial years of jazz legends Miles Davis and John Coltrane, several major music labels are releasing significant new vinyl and digital reissues.

Craft Recordings will release the next wave of its Original Jazz Classics series on October 9. This includes the Miles Davis Quintet album ‘Relaxin’’, John Coltrane with the Red Garland Trio, and the first OJC edition of Vince Guaraldi Trio’s ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’. These 180-gram vinyl pressings are sourced from original master tapes and feature all-analog mastering.

Additionally, Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings are reissuing the historic box set ‘Miles Davis & John Coltrane – The Complete Columbia Recordings 1955-1961’ on November 6. This collection, which has been unavailable for over 25 years, will be released in 9-LP and 6-CD formats. The reissue utilizes audio remixed and remastered by Mark Wilder and includes an expanded 60-page book with rare photographs and historical notes.
