Six abducted labourers found dead in Balochistan, Pakistan
Armed men blocked a road near Turbat in Balochistan on July 28, 2026 and abducted seven labourers travelling in a vehicle. One worker was shot dead at the scene, while the remaining six were taken away. Their bullet‑riddled bodies were recovered on July 30 from the remote Nasirabad area of Turbat and shifted to a hospital for identification. Police confirmed that four of the victims were from Punjab province and two were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The attacks occurred amid a surge of militant violence in the region. Provincial authorities said the Baloch Liberation Army had set up a checkpoint in Barkhan district, abducted Deputy Superintendent of Police Murid Bugti and his gunman, and later killed the officer. Security forces have also reported killing dozens of militants and three police officers in recent operations across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Investigations are ongoing, with the Balochistan Home Department adviser Babar Yousafzai confirming the victims' identities and indicating that the abductors have not claimed responsibility. The incidents highlight continuing security challenges in Pakistan's restive provinces.
