Military leaders in Uganda and Nigeria advise graduating officers
Military leaders in Uganda and Nigeria have addressed graduating officers, emphasizing the importance of professional discipline and proactive security strategies.
In Uganda, Lieutenant General Charles Okidi, Commander of the Air Force, delivered a lecture at the Uganda Military Academy in Kabamba. He advised 278 officer cadets to prioritize patience, integrity, and continuous self-development as they prepare for commissioning into the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces. Okidi described military service as a “calling” rather than a job and urged cadets to focus on professional competence rather than rank.
In Nigeria, Minister of Defence General Christopher Gwabin Musa addressed the graduation of the Army War College Nigeria Course 10/2026 in Abuja. He instructed officers to develop the ability to anticipate risks and identify vulnerabilities to stay ahead of threats to national security. Musa also highlighted Nigeria’s strategic goal to develop indigenous defence capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign technologies through collaboration between the armed forces, research institutions, and innovators.
