Military Medical Academy holds first officer promotion in Łódź

The reactivated Military Medical Academy (WAM) in Łódź held its first officer promotion ceremony in over two decades. During the event, 112 medical graduates were commissioned as second lieutenants in the Polish Armed Forces. The ceremony marks a significant step in the academy's return, which officially began on July 1, 2026, following a decision to restore the institution to address personnel shortages in military healthcare.

According to WAM Rector Col. Prof. Marek Saracyn, the academy aims to train between 800 and 1,200 students annually, eventually producing 250 to 350 graduates per year. To support students, the military provides a monthly allowance starting at 6,500 PLN gross, along with free housing, meals, and uniforms. In exchange, students must adhere to military discipline and commit to a period of professional service upon graduation.

In addition to medical training, the Polish Ministry of National Defence is conducting various military exercises. In Ustka, approximately 500 cadets are participating in a seven-day intensive training program involving drone camouflage, field medicine, and mine detection. Meanwhile, specialized infantry courses like 'JUR' are training Territorial Defence Forces personnel in modern combat scenarios, emphasizing situational awareness and response to unmanned aerial vehicles.
