Military education and officer training in Lithuania and Pol

Overview

Military education and officer training initiatives are expanding across Lithuania and Poland.

In Lithuania, the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy reported a record 170 new cadets, an increase from previous years. To meet this demand, the Ministry of National Defence raised the freshman admission quota. Defense studies programs have also seen high success rates in receiving state-funded study invitations.

In Poland, the reactivated Military Medical Academy (WAM) in Łódź held its first officer promotion ceremony in over twenty years, commissioning 112 medical graduates as second lieutenants. The academy aims to eventually produce up to 350 graduates annually to address healthcare personnel shortages. Concurrently, the Polish Ministry of National Defence is conducting intensive training programs for cadets in Ustka and specialized infantry courses for Territorial Defence Forces personnel.
