Military vehicle collides with freight train in Zbydniów

A military BRDM-2M ‘Żbik’ armored vehicle collided with a freight train at an unguarded railway crossing in Zbydniów, Podkarpackie Voivodeship, late Tuesday night.

According to preliminary findings from the Military Gendarmerie, the driver had stopped before the crossing but then moved forward for reasons yet to be determined as a train was passing, striking the side of the locomotive. The crossing was unguarded and located in an area undergoing renovation work.

Five soldiers were traveling in the military vehicle at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported among the soldiers or any other participants in the incident, and the train did not derail. Authorities, including the Military Gendarmerie, local police, and the State Commission for Railway Accident Investigation, are investigating the exact circumstances and causes of the accident.
