Millennium bim hosts Mozambican art exhibition in Maputo

Millennium bim has inaugurated ‘Faces of Modernity: Works from the Millennium bim Collection’ at the Centro Cultural Franco-Moçambicano (CCFM) in Maputo. The exhibition features 19 works by 19 Mozambican artists, primarily produced during the 1990s, a period characterized by experimentation with new materials and social representation.

Curated by Jorge Dias, the collection includes oil paintings, acrylics, gouache, and mixed media on canvas and paper. The exhibition showcases artists such as Bela Rocha, Bento Mukeswane, Butcheca, Catarina Temporário, Ciro, Conde, Dito, Fernando Rosa, Gemuce, Gilberto Cossa, Isabel Martins, Kheto, Micas Nungo, Miro, Neto, Pedro Mourana, Silva Dunduro, Ulisses, and Zandamela.

Marking the bank’s 31st anniversary, the initiative aims to share the institution’s artistic heritage with the public. Moisés Jorge, chairman of the board of Millennium bim, stated that making the collection accessible allows the bank to share an important part of Mozambique’s artistic memory with society. The partnership with CCFM also includes cultural mediation actions for children from public schools and orphanages. The exhibition is open to the public until 12 December.
