Miloš Abazović sentenced to six years for fatal accident

Miloš Abazović, 40, has been sentenced to six years in prison by the District Court in Istočno Sarajevo for causing a fatal traffic accident. The incident, which occurred on March 9, 2024, in Donja Ljubogošta near Pale, resulted in the death of 65-year-old journalist Goran Maunaga.

Expert testimony during the trial indicated that Abazović attempted a highly risky overtaking maneuver without sufficient visibility of both lanes. Forensic experts also confirmed the presence of cocaine and alcohol in the defendant's samples. In addition to the prison term, the court revoked Abazović's driver's license for three years.

The victim's partner, Nataša Krsman, addressed the court, noting that the family declined plea deals to avoid trading the life of the journalist, who was described as a professional with an unblemished career.
