Milorad Dodik warns of potential illegitimacy in Bosnia and Herzegovina elections

Milorad Dodik, President of the SNSD, has warned that upcoming general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina could be declared illegitimate. Dodik claims that members of the Central Election Commission (CIK) were appointed without proper parliamentary procedures, rendering the body unlawful. He also criticized the implementation of new identification technologies, noting that necessary equipment for identifying ID cards was unavailable until shortly before the election.

Dodik further alleged that Bosniak political entities are united in their efforts to remove him from power. He criticized Denis Bećirović, accusing him of misrepresenting Bosnia and Herzegovina on the international stage.

Regarding the electoral process, voters are advised to bring valid identification, such as a BiH ID card, passport, or driver’s license. While new technologies including fingerprinting and scanning are being introduced to assist in identity verification and preliminary results, voting will remain based on paper ballots. Scanners will provide electronic results before paper ballots are placed in ballot boxes for manual counting.
