Milwaukee Brewers become first MLB team to reach 70 wins

The Milwaukee Brewers recorded the first 70‑win season in Major League Baseball, achieving the milestone faster than any previous Brewers team. The win came in a 2‑1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, highlighted by center fielder Jackson Chourio’s two hits—including a game‑winning RBI single—and contributions from Andrew Vaughn and rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt.

In the same round of games, the Los Angeles Dodgers saw the debut of newly acquired starter Tarik Skubal, who was tagged with the loss as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Dodgers 5‑1. Skubal struck out six over six innings but allowed two runs, while the Cubs’ utility pitcher Javier Assad limited the Dodgers to one run over 5⅔ innings. The loss extended the Dodgers’ losing streak to five games, the longest since 2019.

Both events were part of a busy MLB day following the trade deadline, with numerous player moves and notable performances across the league.
