Brazil election developments: legal probes and regional campaigning

Brazil is seeing significant political and legal activity as various election-related issues emerge. In Minas Gerais, candidates for governor are actively campaigning. Flávio Roscoe (PL) met with Sistema Faemg to discuss agribusiness proposals, including logistics and credit access. Meanwhile, candidates Alexandre Kalil (PDT) and Patrus Ananias (PT) have criticized incumbent Mateus Simões (PSD) following a land occupation in Uberlândia.

Legal scrutiny is also increasing regarding electoral conduct. The Labor Public Ministry (MPT) is investigating Havan owner Luciano Hang for potential electoral harassment. The investigation follows a video in which Hang criticized the proposal to end the 6x1 work schedule while addressing employees in Caldas Novas, Goiás. Critics argue the setting could exert undue pressure on workers.

Additionally, the Regional Labor Court (TRT-MG) has launched a dedicated channel for reporting electoral harassment in the workplace to combat political interference. In the digital sphere, Meta remains the leading provider of services for political candidates, receiving R$ 14.3 million for campaign boosting. Meanwhile, the SBPC’s 2026 Election Observatory has already gathered over 85 candidates committed to defending science and democracy.
