Minas Gerais arrests in two child sexual abuse cases

In Minas Gerais, a 28‑year‑old mother and a 35‑year‑old friend were arrested and sentenced to 24 years in prison for raping three children aged 3, 4 and 6 in the Mangabeiras village of Santana do Riacho. The mother was detained on 2 June in Serra do Cipó and the friend on 3 June in Ibirité after a police investigation prompted by a concerned uncle.

Separately, a 47‑year‑old man was taken into custody in Espinosa, northern Minas, on suspicion of sexually abusing his two teenage goddaughters, aged 15 and 17, both of whom are pregnant. Police seized several phones and an improvised firearm, and the suspect faces both temporary detention and a request for preventive imprisonment.
