Minas Gerais court orders measures to prevent electoral harassment in factory

A Labor Court judge in Minas Gerais has ordered a large footwear manufacturer in Bom Despacho to implement measures to protect workers' voting freedom and prevent electoral harassment. The decision follows an urgent request by the Labor Public Prosecutor's Office (MPT-MG) regarding a campaign event held within the factory premises on September 25.

During the event, candidates for federal and state deputy positions participated in activities at the facility alongside a local political authority. The MPT cited a “grave and imminent” risk to workers' political freedom and conscience, arguing that the employer-employee relationship must not be used as a tool for political interference. The court ruled that the audiovisual evidence and documentation provided were sufficient to justify immediate intervention to ensure voters can exercise their rights without pressure or coercion.
