Minas Gerais seeks entity to manage six water basins

The Minas Gerais Institute for Water Management (Igam) has opened a selection process to identify a non-profit private entity to serve as a Watershed Agency for six hydrographic basin committees. The initiative targets the Semi-Arid and Northeast regions of Minas Gerais.

The selection covers the following committees: Alto Jequitinhonha Mineiro Affluents (JQ1), Araçuaí River (JQ2), Middle and Lower Jequitinhonha (JQ3), Mucuri River (MU1), Mosquito River and Pardo River Affluents (PA1), and São Mateus River (SM1). The goal is to provide technical, administrative, and financial support to strengthen decentralized water resource management.

Interested non-profit entities must meet legal, fiscal, and technical requirements. Proposals must be submitted electronically by 11:59 PM on October 16, 2026. The selected entity will be nominated to the State Water Resources Council (CERH-MG) and will subsequently enter into a management contract with Igam.
