Minas Gerais shines at national vaccine‑coverage showcase in Brasília
The Minas Gerais State Health Secretariat had 15 initiatives selected for the 2nd Showcase of Successful Experiences of SUS Management for Recovery of Vaccine Coverage, ranking the state second nationwide after Paraná. The projects will be presented on 16‑17 June in Brasília during the Joint Meeting of the Technical Chambers of Epidemiology, Primary Care and Health Communication, organized by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass). The national showcase features 109 experiences from across Brazil.
Selected initiatives include mobile vaccination units (vacimóveis), the Minas Immunization Program, mobilisation campaigns, record municipal investment, digitalisation of access to special immunobiologics via the Reference Center, cooperation with PAHO, and the "Selo Bora Vacinar" partnership with the state prosecutor’s office. Since 2023, the state has invested more than R$ 530 million in immunisation, allocating R$ 210.7 million to the program for 2025‑26 and over R$ 100 million to acquire 253 vacimóveis that bring vaccines to hard‑to‑reach communities. In 2025 Minas Gerais recorded a historic 16.4 million vaccine doses administered, moving closer to the top of national coverage rates.
