Mindanao Earthquake Relief Mobilizes Government and Private Aid
Philippine government agencies and the military are delivering food, water and medical supplies to more than 86,000 families in the quake‑hit Sarangani region of Mindanao. The Pag‑IBIG Fund has opened a loan‑payment moratorium for residents in the declared calamity area, allowing borrowers to defer repayments while they focus on recovery.
Private companies are supplementing the effort: Uniqlo and other firms are distributing clothing, hygiene kits and other non‑food items to evacuation centres, while local officials continue to request additional food, water and construction materials to reach remote barangays whose roads remain blocked.
E‑commerce platform Lazada Philippines has activated its LazadaForGood program, urging customers to donate to trusted partners such as the Philippine Red Cross, GMA Kapuso Foundation, ABS‑CBN Foundation, HERO Foundation, UNICEF Philippines, Caritas Manila and Habitat for Humanity Philippines. CEO Carlos Barrera highlighted the ongoing needs and encouraged contributions through the app’s secure donation page.
