Minecraft announces Wilderness Bound update for September 2026
Mojang has announced the release date and details for the upcoming Minecraft content update titled ‘Wilderness Bound’. The update is scheduled to launch globally on September 15, 2026.
The expansion focuses on revamping the dappled forest biome, introducing tall poplar trees, colorful foliage, and shelf mushrooms that grow on tree trunks to create new climbing routes. To enhance exploration, the update introduces abandoned camps featuring wool tents and chests. Players will be able to find Abandoned Camp maps within common chests, which can lead to other locations such as warm ocean ruins, desert pyramids, buried mineshafts, and buried ancient cities.
Additional features include new building materials like poplar wood, concrete stairs and slabs, and expanded wool sets. The update also introduces straw beds, allowing players to skip the night without changing their primary respawn point, and cushions for functional campfire areas. The content is currently in development for both Java and Bedrock editions.
