mineo to eliminate eSIM reissuance fees starting in October

The mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) mineo has announced it will eliminate administrative fees for eSIM reissuance starting in October. This move distinguishes mineo from many other MVNOs that still charge users for the service.

While major mobile network operators (MNOs) in Japan generally provide free eSIM reissuance for online procedures, many MVNOs continue to charge fees, often ranging from 220 to 1,100 yen, due to costs associated with the underlying MNO infrastructure. Other providers with different fee structures include IIJmio, which charges between 220 and 433.4 yen, and Nippon Tsushin SIM, which offers up to three free reissuances per year.

In addition to fee changes, MVNOs such as IIJmio are running various promotional campaigns for October 2026, including significant discounts on handsets like the motorola razr fold when paired with MNP transfers.
