Minera Calcatreu resumes gold and silver production in Río Negro
Minera Calcatreu has resumed production in the Río Negro province of Argentina, completing its third shipment of doré containing approximately 996 equivalent ounces of gold and silver. This shipment, consisting of roughly 980 ounces of gold and 1,099 ounces of silver, is nearly double the 518 equivalent ounces reported in the first shipment in June.
The resumption follows a preventive suspension ordered by the Río Negro provincial government due to various non-compliance issues. Operations were normalized following a dialogue process led by Governor Alberto Weretilneck, resulting in an agreement between the government and the mining company.
As part of the agreement, Minera Calcatreu has committed to the progressive hiring of 30 workers, providing training for an additional 30 people, and prioritizing local labor from Río Negro. The company is also working on improving safety and hygiene measures and implementing permanent monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance with provincial standards.
