Calcatreu mining production in Río Negro

Overview

Minera Calcatreu has resumed gold and silver production in Argentina’s Río Negro province following a preventive suspension by the provincial government. The suspension, caused by non-compliance issues, was resolved through a dialogue process led by Governor Alberto Weretilneck. As part of the resulting agreement, the company committed to prioritizing local labor, hiring and training workers, and improving safety and monitoring mechanisms.

Since resuming operations, the project has completed three shipments of doré. Total production has reached 2,208 gold-equivalent ounces, with an estimated market value between US$8.4 million and US$10 million. The most recent shipment, completed at the end of August, contained approximately 980 ounces of gold and 1,099 ounces of silver, nearly doubling the volume of the initial June shipment.
