Mineral Proiect Invest secures magnesium mining license in Romania

Mineral Proiect Invest S.A. (MPI) has secured an operating license for its integrated magnesium project located in the Valea Dobra perimeter, near Rășinari-Săliște in Sibiu County, Romania.

Estimated at over 400 million euros, the investment will be implemented in stages. The project is described as one of the most advanced integrated magnesium operations in the European Union, covering both the extraction of magnesite rocks and their subsequent processing within Romania.

The Valea Dobra deposit contains estimated resources exceeding 50 million tons. Extracted ore will be transported to a plant in Săliște to be processed into high-purity magnesium hydroxide and magnesium oxide. These products are intended for use in the construction, cable, plastics, and metallurgy industries. Future stages of the project may include the production of metallic magnesium.
